Parilon isn’t a safety consultancy, an inspection firm, or a faceless SaaS platform. It was built by people who spent years inside fire door compliance, watching a system that checks doors twice a year and calls that safety.
The question that started it was embarrassingly simple: is every fire door in this building working, right now?
Nobody could answer it. Not the managing agent, not the inspection contractor, not the compliance lead with three folders of certificates. Everyone could tell you what the doors were like in March. Nobody could tell you what they were like on Tuesday.
That gap is not an administrative failing. It is built into the model. Periodic inspection samples a system that fails continuously, then records the sample as if it described the whole. It was the best available approach for as long as there was no alternative.
Post-Grenfell, the regulatory expectation moved — the Fire Safety Act 2021, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, the Building Safety Act 2022. Compliance became something you demonstrate continuously. The inspection model did not move with it.
So we built the alternative: hardware that retrofits to doors already hanging in buildings, firmware we wrote ourselves, and software that turns what those doors report into evidence. All of it ours. No integration risk, no third party to blame.
